Osthafen

Not exactly late breaking news, but Mark Löffel aka Mark Spoon was found dead in his Berlin home, January 9th, 2006.
Spoon was a German techno pioneer and 50% of the Jam & Spoon/Tokyo Ghetto Pussy/Strom combo.
Next monday, January 16th, the local web-scene will meet at the newthinking store in tucholsky-str. 48 / berlin-mitte to discuss web2.0 topics in general and hook up with some smart minds. See the wiki for further information.
Would be pleased to see you there. starting 19.00.
Since we are back in Berlin time has been flying and I have not written one single entry in here … but have been working a lot in the new atelier, something I had not been able to do for much too long.
It is cold here, and cold weather is a good reason to go to the sauna …

A while back a friend of mine found out about Getränke Grabsch. Craving for his Reissdorf, we went to this very lovely small store in Lichterfelde.
Lichterfelde is another less wellknown part of Berlin. But just another district like Prenzl Berg, Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain (It’s not all about the Bergs!). Maybe less “in” and scenic. The Grabsch store is somewhat hidden, and I get lost each time I go there.
They are specializing in selling many different kinds of German beer. Primarily beer which you don’t get in the supermarket in Berlin. Lot’s of Bavarian flavours, and even Kölsch for you funny people from Cologne who are living in exile here. :-) This store is very small and as much family business as you can fit into the term. The owner of the store is an expert when it comes to beers and always very puzzled when we tell him that we came all the way from Kreuzberg.
Germany’s Bundespräsident Horst Köhler invited the public this Sunday to visit the renovated Schloss Bellevue.
Situated right around corner from the German Bundestag und where I Chancelorette Angela Merkel lives, Bellevue is a castle inside the city of Berlin and residency to the German President when he is in Berlin.

For me, Rosenthaler Straße/Mitte is always subject to great (read big) ads. Well subject to, not exactly. But they get postered there.
You may ask, what’s the great about commercials. Well, working for a lot of people who’s only purpose is to sell products, I find commercials/ads to be very import for my daily bread. Most of the time though, they are rather boring and annoying. Exceptions to the rule are always nice, and I just dig those giant poster walls in Mitte.
And Santa Claus once again did not bring a what-do-you-call-those-wide-ankle-things for my camera. Will have to buy one myself it seems.
This shot is from last week. Half of the infamous Fernsehturm is covered. And that’s how Berlin looks like.
