An Object of Prestige

Ausstellung

If you are not fond of it yet, there’s some info at the Palast der Republik about its deconstruction. You get to watch while they tear it down. Or as you would put it into (very optimistical) German, die Zurückbauung.

Drunk.

The Italian believed to be beaten up by Nazis in Prenzlauer Berg, apparently injured himself when he fell drunk on the S-Bahn tracks at .

Way to fool everybody. I saw this guy on TV the other day, talking from his hospital bed, accussing.

Apparently one of the cameras at the station witnessed the fool.

Tempelhof, where do you go?

ZENTRALFLUGHAFEN

In the wake of BBI (Berlin-Brandenburg-International), people ask what will happen to good ol’ THF when all those 25 Milllion (!) passengers pass through the new airport. There is a small poll over at meinberlin.de, the choices are as follows (in order as they appear on the poll):

  • Formula One race track
  • airship port
  • camp ground
  • park
  • car temple*
  • university of peace**
  • something else

While I don’t know what a car temple (*) would be, or a university of peace (**) would look like, I voted something else (Maybe more of this?). I guess financial reasons are the primary concern if you voted for “keep, as is”. Maybe that is why the omitted it. Anyway, cast your vote!

Against racism and hate

A picture from a march in Friedrichshain where people went on the streets because of recent events in and around Berlin, where people of other nationalities were attacked by “real Germans” (note: sarcasm).

Tatiana Lyng at Best Shop

Hanno invites: Vernissage on thursday, 18th of May from 17:30h to 20:30h at Best Shop, enjoy the exhibition and have a drink with us!*

„A performance space” - an interactive dressing room of the danish artist Tatiana Lyng deals with the problem that we are only able to see us self reflected real-time in the mirror while trying on clothes in a dressing room. The installation will give you the possibility to see yourself from other angels played back in different time sequences. The developing situations can be seen as a picture of simultaneous performer-observer postions. Who is performing and who is observing? Who are we performing for? And what’s the difference?

Regular exhibition times:

Idendity crisis?

Are we Asia or are we Europe? That’s a discussion (I accidently sparked off) over at Istanbul’s own Metroblog. With ongoing effords of Turkey trying to join the EU, you would think the answer is obvious.

Red Bull Air Race Berlin

Red Bull Air Race

This small reminder in front of the rest of the Palast der Republik wants to point out that the next stage of the spectacular Red Bull Air Race will take place at Airport Tempelhof on the 27th of may.

This sure is one of the most unreasonable things I have seen in my life that is being done with an airplane. But if anything comes close to the Formula 1 of the sky, this is it. And with the extraordinary venue of Airport Tempelhof, this should be a guaranteed thriller.
