The game is on!
It is not new at all that those who are big in the business often get their ideas from non-commercial, underground artists and youth culture. Lately it is hard to ignore that advertising agencies found another cheap and effective way to address the supposed to be cool, urban young and young at heart folks in Berlin. The means of streetartists like “bombing” the city with paste-ups and stencils are used more and more to spread the word of well paying clients. The climax so far was the omnipresent advertisement campaign for a movie by a well known British comedian last year with hundreds of cheesy paste-ups and stencils all over the city. Before that there were stencils sprayed on the pavement promoting sneakers and at the moment paste-ups for a handheld game console are ubiquitous.
What really puts me over the edge is how aggressive that stuff is plastered everywhere and that no respect at all is given to nice pieces of streetart which are crossed and destroyed in many places. Vandalism is a matter of opinion…
However, streetartist 6 aka 4rtist aka 1cm.de took the challenge and reconquered the streets by adbusting the game console paste-ups. It seems that things take a turn to another side again.

@Max: are you sure this is the same artist? I couldn’t find those paste-ups on his side and the style is quite different.. well, i hope i didn’t do anyone wrong with my first post here!

über dem ehemaligen “cccr” in der torstrasse (hieß zwischenzeitlich mal “i ove u” – bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob das der name war…) läuft nachts jetzt immer eine projektion gegen die benachbarte hauswand, ist auch auf deren seite dokumentiert.
es besteht in diesem fall also kein zweifel, dass es sich um street art handelt.
was allerdings nichts an der aussage deines beitrags ändert. neben borat und comedy central fällt mir hierzu auch noch motor fm und dmax ein, die ebenso sich der street art als kommunikationsinstrument bedienen. wobei es mich immer wieder wundert, denn es handelt sich hierbei um illegale methoden, die ja verfolgt werden können. und bei einer firma, die so wirbt, sollte es doch sehr einach sein, die anzeige zuzustellen und die entsprechende firma zur rechenschaft zu ziehen. aber offensichtlich verfährt man hier nach dem motto: wo kein kläger, da kein richter.
An den Projektionen zweifle ich auch nicht, nur an den Paste-Ups. Whatever :)
Habe mich auch schon gewundert, dass diese Firmen illegale Methoden anwenden und ihren Namen drunterschreiben… Läuft wohl wirklich nach dem Motto, das du schon genannt hast, denn Stellen, wo potentielle Kläger, wie z.B. die BVG dahinterstehen werden ja meistens gemieden.
Man hatte das ja schon beim BC1 (Red Bull Tanzveranstaltung) gesehen, die vorletztes Jahr überall Schablonenwerbung gesprüht haben und sich niemand drüber beschwert hat.
Leider können die auftraggebenden Firmen kaum dafür verantwortlich gemacht werden – erinnere mich nur an einen Fall (in NY?), wo Nike ähnliche Promotion wieder aus dem Stadtbild entfernen mußte.
