Races

Okay, I admit I am one day too late. It was in the news yesterday that you are asked for your “race” when applying for naturalization in Berlin. When I was looking over my blog feeds yesterday I thought that this is a satire. It sounded too absurd to be real. But well, nothing seems to be too absurd to be real. The German word for race let every reasonable person here immediately think of racism and is only used for animals, like dog breeds.
I wonder what people answered… I think I would say “poodle”. I cannot deny a certain resemblance when the humid weather at the moment makes my hair curling in poodlestyle. Woof!
