Friday Night Fun

Tomorrow night is the party marking the opening of Illustrative ’07, Berlin’s showcase for contemporary illustrative art. Artists, designers and collectors will be gathering at the Villa Elisabeth on Invalidenstrasse to begin two weeks of workshops, lectures and exhibitions. Focus points this year include Book Art, Polish album cover designs and fashion graphics as well as designing for animated film. Note also that this year for the first time visitors will able to receive the exhibited works as images using technology developed by DropMobile. Send an SMS with the relevant ‘keyword’ of the artwork to the abbreviated number 72755 and you’ll receive the desired Multimedia message via the MMS function on their mobile phones. It’s an art gallery in your pocket!

Artist and Auto Mechanic Liz Cohen has taken an old Trabi and created the Trabantamino, which stretches the chassis out to El Camino proportions. If she could reverse this process parking around town would be much easier!

I call this, the ever changing wall. I’ll post more of it later on. When I was there the last time, it looked totally different.

if you’re at Alex and experience that familiar feeling of urgency you ‘ll be glad to know the new high tech public toilets have finally been finished! As your anxiety drains away contemplate the cost – 750,000 Euros – a stream of gold indeed…. Wowi gave the official thumbs up after his test drive yesterday so head on down to Alex check out one of the more useful of Berlin’s tourist attractions. but yo, remember, shaking it more than twice means you’re playing with it….
