1,200,000 crazed and half naked party people took over the Straße des 17. Juni on Saturday afternoon to dance (and drink, and drink) until almost midnight! This LoveParade 2006 was professionally organized and sponsored by local fitness chain McFit...ah how the times have changed…

Google Video is up and running auf Deutsch! Now german speakers can also upload their own special moments to the video search engine. but careful with those handycams, google will be checking all entries for pornography or obscene material before they appear online. no word yet whether competitor YouTube will be grabbing their .de domain from the squatters…

The event I was always more looking forward to than the actual Loveparade is also back: The Fritz Loveradio.

A little explanation:
The Fritz Loveradio took place on the Loveparade weekend and was my personal highlight. Local radio station Fritz had 50 of the best djs in electronic music have a dj set for one hour each at a nice location. It was broadcasted on the stations of Fritz and you could also go there for free.
The Fritz Loveradio took place in 2004 for the last time, even though the Loveparade itself was dropped.

But now it’s back! Although in a different form. It will be broadcasted on the stations of Fritz as usual (102,6 MHz in Berlin) but it’s not an actual event you can attend (maybe again next year?).
It’s taking place from Friday, July 14th, 8 pm till Sunday, July 16th, 2 pm. It’s a few djs less than the former 50 but the lineup is still pretty good.

Just to confirm.

Berlin got parades - that’s for sure. And the most famous one - the Love Parade - is back in town July 15th, 2006.

The organisation expects a million techno crazy people to come. The city’s allowance is due for late June - so hold your breath and have some gute Laune in the meantime!

Musikmarkt tells us that we won’t be spared. :( There will be a new “Love Parade” in June, 2006. But it won’t be called “Love Parade”, but “B-Parade” (Berlin Street Parade).

And listen to this, finally it won’t be a demonstration either, but registered as a “regular” event. Who would have thought? Sad, sad. Since I am an avid supporter of all those political statements (about love and world peace) made on LSD and XTC.

I also read that the makers of the “B-Parade” will not only torture us with Techno, but with the entire spectrum of electronic music. So I guess it’s time to book a cheap flight (with HLX, easyjet, Air Berlin, Virgin Express, flyDBA or whoever) to spend the weekend somewhere else.
