Lügen gehört wohl für Verkäufer bei Berlins Vorzeige-VW-Autohaus Eduard Winter zum Tagesgeschäft. Was ich heute (zum wiederholten Mal) im Autohaus an der Hasenheide erlebt habe, das passt auf keine Kuhhaut.

Da wird immer wieder versucht dem Kunden irgendwelche Bären aufzubinden um eine vermeindliche Notlage auszunutzen. So wurde mir zum Beispiel für die komplette Auspuffanlage ein Preis von 700 EUR veranschlagt. Zusätzlich dazu sollte ich noch weitere 200 EUR Pfand dalassen, die ich innerhalb von sieben Tagen zurückbekommen würde, wenn ich den Katalysator vorbeibringen würde.

Auf meine Rückfrage ob es keine Einzelteile geben würde, wurde ausdrücklich behauptet, dass es das es die nicht gibt.

Für selbes Problem veranschlagte eine freie Werkstatt 60 EUR - weil anscheinend geht es doch.

Zum Glück hat man doch die Wahl.

Seit dem 27. März, 2007 heute ist Wolf Biermann der 115. Ehrenbürger der Stadt Berlin. Herzlichen Glückwunsch dazu!

Mit der Ehrenbürgerschaft erhält Biermann die bedeutenste Auszeichnung Berlins. Die Ehrenbürgerschaft wird vom Senat zusammen mit dem Abgeordnetenhaus an Personen verliehen, die sich besonders um die Stadt Berlin verdient gemacht haben. Vorschläge erbringen das Abgeordnetenhaus, Mitglieder des Senats, die Bezirksämter und die Bezirksverordnetenversammlungen.

Bei der Verleihung erhält der Ehrenbürger eine vom Regierenden Bürgermeister und vom Präsidenten des Abgeordnetenhauses unterschriebene Urkunde. Auf dieser sind ihre Verdienste festgehalten. Ehrenbürger dürfen sich von einem Künstler ihrer Wahl für die Galerie der Ehrenbürger im Abgeordnetenhaus porträtieren lassen.

Sollte der Ehrenbürger bedürftig sein oder in Zukunft werden, steht ihm eine Ehrenversorgung zu.

Nach Verleihung der Ehrenbürgerschaft lädt der Senat den Bürger zu Bekanntmachungen und Feierlichkeiten als Ehrengast ein. Außerdem bekommen Ehrenbürger kostenlos eine Jahreskarte der Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) - der m.E. größte Vorteil den diese Auszeichnung mit sich bringt - und das Amtsblatt Berlins.

Last but not least übernimmt das Land Berlin die Kosten für das Begräbnis eines in einem Ehrengrab auf einem Berliner Friedhof.

Local belt makers Hoffnung Berlin will help you do just that. Encountering them at a local christmas market, i admired their clean look and quality leather. A two man business founded in 1985 they pride themselves on combining traditional leatherworking methods with modern design. For years i’d kept an old, worn out leather belt (a gift from a ’special friend’), looking for someone who could use the buckle to create another individual piece. Herr Mathei told me to bring it to them and they would see what they could do. I returned the next week and in the space of thirty minutes i had two fine new belts - one of their own design and another using the heavy buckle of my old belt. things are looking up already!

This time, as Berlin’s seventh gift, we want to share our feelings about this city, why we keep living here while others are moving away, while people keep complaining about money, while nobody really wants to live here although they all share one thought; Berlin ist geil !

Hans Rosenthal was undoubtedly one of the greatest TV entertainers in Germany. He was born in 1925 just around the corner from where I live in Prenzlauer Berg, I just found out by running into the memorial plaque at the house recently.

He had a hard childhood, as his parents died early, his brother and other relatives were killed in the holocaust. He survived hiding in a gardeners colony in the north of Berlin. After the war he started as an apprentice with the Berliner Rundfunk and started his broadcasting career 1948 as producer and editor at RIAS. He went on becoming a quizmaster, most of the shows he invented himself. One of my big childhood memories is watching “Dalli Dalli” a show that Hans Rosenthal hosted from 1971 to 1986.

Is there a better example than Berlin in its role as initial point for the peaceful revolution in November 1989? Is there any other city out there, which is able to announce 2500 demonstrations per year? 2500! PER YEAR!
A wise government realizes that permitting peaceful gatherings helps citizens feel that they have a role to play in their society. To forbid it causes citizens to feel insecure, disconnected, and distrustful of their government. We, as Berlin citizens can tell you a story about that…

So, if you are thinking about to take over the world, you might need to attract some participants - perhaps you should try it by initiating a demonstration here in Berlin, it’s not that difficult. But be sure - there will be an anti-demonstration…

The Blue Angel, Blonde Venus and Flame of New Orleans brought a generation of red blooded he-men to their knees and was named one of AFI’s ‘Greatest Female Stars of All Time‘.
