You know you are old when …

… everyone waiting in line to get in is just younger than you are!

I think I’ve pretty much never stood in line for anything since I got to Berlin. Except maybe for the guest list and the cashier at the supermarket - but you know, those things don’t count. ;-) I met up with some former colleagues at White Trash last night to late-celebrate someone’s birthday and because I was late got there after 8 PM, I had to get in line with everyone who was gonna go for some concert last night, and also ended up paying 8 bucks to go to the restaurant - geesh.

And everyone else - in line - was at least four or five years younger.

CCC: 24C3

24c3-logo1.jpg Starting tomorrow, the anual Chaos Communication Congress will be in town. I have no idea yet when I will make it, but if anyone is in town please comment or send me an email at klimpong’at’gmail’dot’com and let me know. I’ll be back in town from the 27th and I intend to go for a day, or a few hours.

Tickets are pretty cheap - I think it’s 80 EUR for the entire congress, but various discounts apply. A regular day pass is only 30 EUR, but there are hefty discounts (students, alg2, etc.) as well.

Happy holidays!

Happy Easter Egg Hunt - Berlin-Style!

ostereiersuche
In the streets of Berlin it is much easier to find dogpoo than easter eggs. So some people try to lesser the danger of confusion by placing signboards, others seem to like pimping Berlin-everyday life’s nuisances with some holiday feeling…
Happy Holidays, everyone!

Happy Birthday, Moviemento!

moviemento_promo_500.jpg

is located at Kottbusser Damm in Kreuzberg and Berlin’s oldest movie theatre.

The oldest because it’s as old as one century - a 100 years. Movie enthusiasts are encouraged to check out the special program (PDF) for the celebrations.

Europe turns 50

Celebrating Europe’s 50th birthday, the Europe-Fest will take place this coming weekend in Berlin. Along with the Europe-Fest there’s gonna be a club night - the European clubnight - as well.

To make clubbing more related to the overall topic of this coming weekend, every one of the 35 clubs participating will represent a distinct country. If you ever went to the long night of museums, you pretty much know how this will work - pay one, get all. The flat fee is 12 EUR.

And if you’re a cheap bastard (and we know you are!) you can try to get lucky and win 3x 2 tickets sponsored by Stadtkind together with Metroblogging Berlin - yay!

To take part, the first to file a suggestion wins - well the three who are the firstest?! You know what I mean. Also, don’t forget to add your name and phone so we can hit you back.

For a list of participating clubs, check here.
