I miss you……(or why I have been missing the World Cup)

To be frank, I am not really into soccer…. It is not that I am one of those who can’t understand why 22 people are running after a small ball and then millions are cheering them up, millions of dollars are getting involved in this “game”, people dedicate their lives as players or fans to it.

I am a great fan of simplicity as well as the saying “small is beautiful”. And soccer is a “big” game. I, who as a dedicated music fan has a lot of problems with very crowded concerts, can not even imagine going to a soccer game where approximately 70.000 fans are ready to scream their hearts out.

While I have been saying these sentences for over 10 – 15 years now, I must admit that for the first time in my life I regret missing the World Cup… Missing the action, missing the enthusiasm, missing the fun and the sun.

Simply because World Cup is in my town !

And I am not there ! (I know I am to blame, I fled a day before the World Cup started!)

I’d love to stand in the middle of the 50.000 people crowd in Treptower park (exaggerated?) and scream out loud for a team I don’t even kow, get excited or mad at the succeded positions or the missed goals, give my neighbour a beer and get a “schmierschen” as return.

Simply because it’s happening in my town, Berlin..

Only a couple of days more to go….. and I root for my town !

Give Berlin the World Cup !!

(she won that a while ago in my heart anyway).
